Changes to FERS to Pay for Highway Projects

Social Security Tax

The 2% discount which carried over from 2011 will expire at the end of February.  There was a big fight in Congress as to who was going to make up the difference for the reduced rate so they only agreed to a 2 month extension.  Previously the Republicans wanted the "Federal Workers" to make up the difference by freezing pay through 2013.  I'm sure this issue is going to heat up again soon as the deadline approaches.  Once again I'm sure a deal will be cut but the question is who will end up paying for it?  

Congress Approval Rating

Latest from Gallup shows approval rating for Congress at at 10%.  It's amazing these people keep getting reelected but that just shows how most of the US could care less about politics.

Now they want to Freeze step Increases

Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL) has introduced legislation that would prohibit step increases for federal employees through the end of 2012.  Gee I got a better idea why don't we just work for "FREE" as we don't need any money to pay the bills.   Oh and by the way to those in Congress "the cost of living continues to go up if you care to look at the data provided by your own government".

This was taken from the BLS that was issued on January 24th, 2012.   Weekly earnings of the nation's 101.5 million full-time wage and salary workers were $764 in the fourth quarter of 2011 (not seasonally adjusted), the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.  This was 1.6 percent higher than a year earlier, compared with a gain of 3.3 percent in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) over the same period.
